Penticton Telehandler Ticket - A telescopic handler or telehandler is an equipment which is frequently utilized in industrial and agricultural applications. It has the same appearance to a forklift and even works in a similar manner, even though, the telehandler is more of a crane than a lift truck. It has a telescopic boom which can extend forward and upward from the vehicle. The boom has the capability to fit one of several accessories like a bucket, a lift table, muck grab or pallet forks.
Pallet blades are the most common accessory designed for the telehandler. This particular equipment is commonly used for moving loads to and from sites that a standard lift truck will find unreachable. Telehandlers are particularly useful for placing loads on rooftops for example, or for removing palletized cargo from with a trailer. Many of the jobs that a telehandler could carry out will otherwise need a crane and this machine could be costly, not always time efficient and impractical.
The boom acts as a lever, raising and extending while bearing a load. Even if there are back counterweights, this can cause the telehandler to become more unstable. Therefore, the greatest advantage of the telehandler is also its greatest limitation. As the working radius increases, the lifting capacity decreases. The working radius is defined as the distance between the center of the load and the front of the wheels.
The telehandler with a 5000 lb capacity for instance, with a retractable boom could safely lift as little as 400 lb at a fully extended boom at a low boom angle. Equivalent machines with a lift capacity of 5000 lbs and a retractable boom which could support as much as 10,000 lb with the boom raises to around 70 degrees. The operator has a load chart to help determine whether a specific lifting job could be done in an efficient and safe manner. This chart considers the height, the boom angle and the weight.
